Lakers' Walton prepares to face Warriors for first time since he left
LAS VEGAS -- As an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, Luke Walton enjoyed the luxury of not having to devise a game plan to stop Stephen Curry, a nightmare assignment that kept every other coaching staff up late into the evening trying to conjure up some defensive scheme that might slow the two-time MVP and arguably the greatest shooter in NBA history.But now, roles have been reversed, and on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena, Walton will face his former team for the first time since he left to become the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.At the moment, though, Walton said he's not worrying about how to keep Curry from raining 3-pointers on the Lakers.

This past offseason the Los Angeles Lakers decide to fire one former Lakers player, head coach Byron Scott, and hired another former Laker in Luke Walton.Walton spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors and head coach Steve Kerr, winning an NBA Championship in 2015.Kerr missed the first half of the 2015-16 season with an illness, and Walton filled in for him as the interim head coach and got the Warriors of to the best start in NBA history, winning 24 straight games to begin the season, and overall going 39-4 as a head coach.
